St. Clair County Mock Trial
St. Clair County Mock Trial is a competition sponsored by the St.
Clair County Bar Association to provide local high school students with
the opportunity to enact the roles of attorneys and witnesses based on a
fictional court case provided annually by the Michigan Center for Civic
Education.
The St. Clair County Mock Trial has been in existence for ten years and has grown in that time from a few schools to 10 for the 2015 competition, with many schools having multiple teams participating. St. Clair County Mock Trial teams compete at this local competition, preparing them for the annual regional and State competitions.
Local high school teams are supported by teacher coaches and attorney coaches to assist in preparing students for the competition. Local judges, attorneys and community representatives serve as judges for the competition, held in late February prior to the regional and State competitions. St. Clair County Bar Association members, local law enforcement, court staff and many others also volunteer their time to make St. Clair County Mock Trial the success that it is.
The competition awards students and teams for their successful
deliberation of the case and portrayal of witnesses as part of the
competition. In addition to the individual student awards, the team
receiving the most points as awarded by the judges receives the St.
Clair County Mock Trial Trophy. The Judge John G. Cummings Professionalism Trophy

The 2019 St. Clair County Mock Trial Competition will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2019 beginning at 8:30am at the St. Clair County Courthouse, 201 McMorran Blvd, Port Huron, Michigan 48060.
